September

We gave away all of our boxes and paper.  Somebody got a good deal.  It was nice to get our garage cleared out so we could start getting organized. 

We started hanging artwork on the walls.  It's beginning to feel like home.

I got Piper to put on the Pooh Bear costume that Chelsea wore 24 years ago.  So cute!  

Lucile and Eric came over to see our new house and had sacrament meeting with us.  Piper wouldn't smile for the picture she had with her great grandparents, but she really was in a good mood.  Later that day, we gave her a Fisher Price house and an adorable book about Band Aids for her early birthday presents.  

Matt and I took the grand baby to the park for a little while so her mom and dad could get some things done in preparation for their trip to Portland.  

My sister Kristen has been without grass at her home due to broken sprinklers when she moved in.  She got those fixed and finally was able to buy sod.  I went to help lay it one Friday in September.  Thankfully, it was a cool, overcast day and lots of people came to pitch in.  Neighbors, missionaries, and family members.  We got the front and back finished within about four hours!  The sod for the backyard was wet and we all got super dirty.  I had lots of fun and learned about sod laying.  

September was preparation month for Emma's mission.  Lots of shopping and checking things off the list.  She had her roommate take some pre-mission pictures of her. She's gonna be one cute and smart missionary!

This house came with an already planted garden.  We've been able to enjoy lots of tomatoes.  Had to give many away to neighbors because we couldn't keep up.  

Let's end this post with little Piper's 2nd birthday at her other grandparents' house in Oregon.  Chelsea FaceTimed us and we got to watch her get sung HB to.  She reached out and touched the candle flame.  She got the saddest frown on her face after quickly pulling her little hand away.  She didn't get burned thankfully.  They distracted her with yummy chocolate frosting.

Catching Up- Moving Stinks

 

This meme brought me comfort on a hard day recently.  It's something I need to keep in the front of my mind so I can have hope that we are doing what is right and things will work for our good. 

Our house in South Jordan sold in just a couple of days.  We put in an offer on a house in Provo at the same time.  We love the location of our new home.  It's just seven minutes to Matt's work, and it's super close to BYU and the beautiful mountains.  We have a nice view of Rock Canyon out the front and a view of Mt. Timpanogos out the back.

I already miss the expansive view of the Wasatch Front mountains and the valley.  I miss the super convenience of a lot of shopping in only five minutes from our house.  I also miss the easiness of the street numbers in Salt Lake County.  They make so much more sense and are laid out in more of a straight grid.  Despite missing these things, I already love walking the hilly streets with big, old trees.  The people on our street have been so friendly and welcoming.  I love having a bright, walkout basement as well as a garden that I'm getting tomatoes from.  I love the church building that we get to attend.  It has a cool retro vibe to it.  

I want to forget the memories of the pack out and moving days.  They were stressful even though we hired a company to do it for us.  It turned from a two day to a three day move with an unplanned night at a hotel.  It also took two and half trucks to fit all of our things.  It was so stinking hot those days which made it worse.  The emotions I had were all over the place, but I held it together pretty well through it all.  The tears and sadness have definitely surfaced since. We are getting more and more settled into the new house each day.  I've lost some kitchen cabinetry, so finding new homes for things has been frustrating.  But the home is lovely, and we will get it all figured out.  We won't be moving for a VERY long time.  

Catching Up- Random

Matt is loving his new job at the IHC Family Medicine Residency Program in Provo.  He's delivered a bunch of babies already and back to doing some inpatient work when it's his turn.  Here he is all covered up due to Covid-19.  

Playing with Piper all summer long!

She loves playing in the little pool and with the hose.  She loves to play at the big desk and pull out all the things in the drawer.  She especially is drawn to the measuring tape I keep in there.  She loves to race cars down a piece of cardboard.  I'm really glad I kept all of Josh's Matchbox cars. She loves to go into my bathroom and pull out all the things in my caddy.  She lines them up on the side of the bathtub and takes their lids off.  Sometimes she'll stick around to help put it all back. She also likes to go into our closet and feel Matt's shirts and sit in there.  One evening, she got Matt to sit in there and read her books she pulled off our bookshelf.  The India book is especially appealing to her. My sister's little girl, Evie, came to play for a few hours.  They had a hard time sharing toys, but they did enjoy a wagon ride together.  

I had been craving a peach Rainbow from Pace's Dairy Ann in Bountiful. So before our move to Provo, we made it happen.  Sooooo good.  

I took my girls on a professional bra fitting excursion.  It was uncomfortably fun!  I took them to Bra Fittings By Courtney up in Layton.  Now we all know exactly what size we are and how a bra really needs to fit.  Highly recommended for anyone with boobs!

I took this attractive selfie on my last morning walk with my friend Rebecca.  I have loved running and walking with her for the last two years.  We've had some great conversations which I will dearly miss.  

In preparation for our move, Matt was quite the handyman switching out three of the bathroom faucets that were a little leaky.  

In May, before I even knew there was going to be a bit of a meat shortage at the stores, I was impressed upon to buy beef from a local rancher.  We bought a quarter of a cow which is plenty for us.  Thankfully, it all survived the transportation of the freezer on moving day!  It stayed nice and frozen.

Catching Up- Cecret Lake

August is almost over, so I'm gonna do a quick catch up on the last part of July and into the beginning of August.  

After the house went on the market, we had a couple of days when we needed to get out of the house for showings.  So one morning, we went on a hike to Cecret Lake.  The wild flowers were so pretty, and the sky and lake were so blue and clear.  

There were quite a lot of people on the trail that morning.  Some were even wearing masks.  Crazy.  They all had our same great idea for a morning hike.  We were lucky to get a parking space at the trailhead.  After getting up to the lake, we enjoyed a yummy snack while trying to keep the chipmunks away from our crumbs.  I'm really glad Piper loves to be in the child backpack.  She likes to be in the great outdoors, too.
