Another Eastman Runner

My little Emma is running Cross Country for her middle school.  Today was her first meet, and she did great.  She isn't the fastest, but she hangs in there and gives it all she has.  She ran a mile and a half in 14:37 minutes.  She will get better and better as she works hard throughout the season.  I'm so proud of her for trying something new and a little scary.

Before the race with friends Breanna and Maddie

1st "roadkill"... even though it was a teammate

Run Emma!

A red face means she pushed hard!

They Keep Leaving Me

It's that time of year again.  I've sent my kids back to school.  This fall is different than all of the past falls.  Chelsea is in college.  Josh drove himself to high school.  And Emma is in middle school.  My, how time flies.

River Float With The Wrights

Before our family reunion, my big brother Erik and his family came up to Boise to visit us.  He had just competed in the SpudMan Triathlon in Burley.

We took them to float the Boise River.... always a fun activity on a hot summer day.

Fillmore Family Reunion

This past weekend Emma and I went to our Fillmore Family Reunion in Burley, Idaho.  This is my mom's family... her two brothers (Larry & Mark) and one sister (Marilyn) and her momma (Virginia Pearless).

We haven't had an official reunion in quite awhile.  My lil sister Lori started the whole planning of it and did a nice job delegating assignments.

We didn't have all of my cousins and their families there the entire time.  They came and went as their personal schedules dictated.  But it was fun to see so many of them.  We started on Thursday afternoon for dinner and a bunch of water fun at Harris Pond.

I don't swim in pond water.  If there was a way to not touch the bottom then maybe I would have done the swing.  So I only got into the paddle boat.  Fine!  Call me a wimp.  I just get grossed out when it comes to slimy water!  Here's my feet to prove I did something:)

Check out my old man!  My dad was a good sport and played with the kids.

The next morning, the adults painted the trim on Grandma Fillmore's house.  Emma and I did some prep work.  We scraped at old paint.

I also cleaned the inside of my G's car with my sweet cousin, Jana.  She's the mother of identical triplet boys , a three year old girl, and an 8 month old girl.  She is superwoman!

That night we had dinner at the park with fun carnival games.  Lori asked me to be in charge of doing a  photo booth.  I found some printable props on line and glued them onto foam core then attached sticks.  I gathered up some fun glasses and a few other cool things and I was set.  I think it turned out pretty dang good.  Here are some samples of my awesome photography skills (ha ha).

Saturday morning, some of us got up early and had a 3 mile family fun run.  We ran to Grandma Fillmore's house and back to Uncle Mark's house where we (and those who slept in) had a great breakfast.

So that is the shortened version of our reunion.  It was nice to be with extended family and catch up on each other's lives.
