New Love

This cute couple is about to get married in two weeks from today.  I'm so happy for my boy.  He found a beautiful lady to love for the rest of eternity.  She is good to him and loves him.  That is what a momma wants for her son.  She comes from a great family who has welcomed Josh with open arms.  And we welcome Megan into ours.

Last week, Matt and I went to the Logan Temple to be with Megan, some of her family, and Josh as she received her endowment.  It was a very special experience.

Last night, a bridal shower was held for Megan at her Grandma Linda's home in Sandy.  My mom, sister Heather and sister in law Kimi attended with me and Emma.  It was fun to meet more of her family and see her with both of her look-alike sisters.  We had a yummy dinner, and then we showered her with presents to help her set up her new home with Josh.

New York City Get-Away

Last winter we heard that Jerry Seinfeld was doing a limited number of standup shows at the Beacon Theater in NYC.  Matt said "Let's go!" Really? OK!  So we bought the tickets for June 7th and then planned a short trip to the Big Apple.  We packed a lot into the two full days that we would be there.  We had so much fun together on our little adventure.  I look forward to more of these times.
The itinerary:
Lots and lots of subway riding
Dinner at Panna II the night we arrived (an awesome indian restaraunt that was recommend by an instagram account I follow)
Mets vs Giants game at CitiField in Queens
My Fair Lady at the Lincoln Center in the Vivian Beaumont Theater
9-11 Memorial and Museum
Lunch at Little Eataly
Ferry ride out to the Statue of Liberty (platform access) and to Ellis Island
Jerry Seinfeld at the Beacon Theater

No More High School In Our House

I've made school lunches for my kids nearly every day for the last 20 years.  At the end of May, I made the very last one.  It was kinda sad for me.  I wrote about this little act of service back here in 2011.  I'm glad that I could show a little bit of love to my kids while they were growing up by sending them to school every day with good food packaged up by mom.  I'm gonna miss it when September rolls around and there aren't any kids in the house to do this for.

Our baby Emma graduated from Bingham High School on May 30th.  She graduated in the top 10% of her class of 800!  Because she graduated with a 4.0 she most likely was in the top 5%.  This girl NEVER got even an A- on a report card... EVER! She struggled the last six weeks with serious senioritis and was quite unmotivated to work hard.  It was a bit dicey when it came to her math grade for the last quarter.  But in the end, she pulled it off and received an A grade.  We are so very proud of her and for her perseverance to do her best.  Check out all the cords around her neck that she earned!

I loved seeing all of the school pics of Emma from pre-school through her senior year displayed in our entryway.

Graduation was held on the campus of Utah Valley University.  Emma got to sing in the choir that performed during the ceremony.

And then a week later, Emma participated in the Rushton View Stake seminary graduation.  She completed all four years of seminary.  Way to go Emma!  She has a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and it shines in her countenance everyday.
