I Am A Painter...Not An Artist.

I am a painter now.  Yep.  I'm not an artist, but I do have a steady hand and lots of patience, so I thought I'd give something new a try.  I'm working on a paint-by-number canvas portrait of Emma.  Last year I ordered this custom kit from Easy123Art, but I'm just now getting around to starting it.  It was supposed to be my summer project last year, but when it arrived, some of the paints had leaked during shipping, so I had to wait until they sent me new ones.  And then I was nervous about starting because most of the numbers are so very tiny.  I was sure I'd ruin it as soon as I put brush to canvas.

This summer, I kept putting it off again because of other things I was doing.  But I knew I'd start it eventually, so I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a couple of super fine tipped paint brushes.  The ones that came with the kit were not going to help me be successful getting into the tiny spaces.  I also bought myself a magnifying glass so that I could see what I'm doing as I paint.  These have all proven worthy and necessary.  And so far, I haven't ruined the painting!

If it turns out well, then this will be the first of three in the series of all my kids' first day of Sunbeam primary class at church.  I have a photograph of each of them on that special day.  I've always wanted Matt to draw these for me to hang on the wall, so I'm just taking it into my own hands now and making it happen in a different way.
