12 Days of Christmas: All the Sweet Things About Christmas

“All the Sweet Things About Christmas” 2018

On the first day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

Lamb Book For Piper

This year, Christmas is extra sweet since we have Piper Grace in our family now!  Our 12 Days of Christmas for 2018 will focus on all the sweet things that surround this wonderful holiday that celebrates the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Tonight we will travel afar (all the way to Provo!) to visit another babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and give her a gift that may start a sweet tradition in her family.

On the second day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

 Annual Ornament

Here is your ornament for 2018!  Let it remind you always of the sweet spirit of Christmas, the sweet gift of the Savior to the world, and the sweet traditions of love our family has created together.

On the third day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

Giving Machine Experience

“Sweet is the work, my God, my King, to praise thy name, give thanks and sing, to show that love by morning light, and talk of all thy truths at night.”

Let us be true disciples of our Lord by participating in His work and glory.  Tonight, we will provide sweet service in a unique, simple and meaningful way.  We will go to one of only five locations around the world, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and make a donation at the Giving Machine found there.  We can choose to provide somebody with education materials, clean water, a milking goat, healthcare, better nutrition, etc.

On the fourth day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

Annual Christmas Book

We have a big collection of Christmas storybooks.  This one is sure to be one of the sweetest ones yet.  The Christmas Train is President Monson’s own true story of showing Christlike love at Christmastime.  What sweet experience could you record in your personal journal to be remembered and cherished always?  Who knows?  Maybe one day it will be made into storybook!

On the fifth day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

A Night of Music

We will hear the sweet sounds of Christmas as we attend the Bingham High School Choir Candlelight Concert.  Music can help us feel the joy Jesus wants us to experience.  We are grateful that we get to hear Emma’s sweet voice join with her friends in praise of Christ.

On the sixth day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

Sweets Orange Sticks

A simple sweet treat at Christmas can remind us of happy times.  These orange sticks do just that!  Enjoy!

On the seventh day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

A Nativity for Emma

“Away in a manger, no crib for his bed, the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head; the stars in the heavens looked down where he lay, the little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.”  Nativities are sweet visuals for us to look at so we can be reminded of that holy night in Bethlehem.  Here is a nativity made in Cambodia, picked especially for Emma.

On the eighth day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

Grandma Wright’s Toffee & Recipe

A sweet tradition!  Eating a bite of this toffee is a must each Christmas.  Grandma is a pro at making it, but each of us can learn to make it by following her simple instructions.
2 sticks butter, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup chopped almonds
Cook on medium high in a 2 qt saucepan stirring constantly until it smokes & turns tan in color. About 6 mins of rapid boil.  Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet and spread around. Sprinkle on and spread chocolate chips and chopped walnuts. If using a candy thermometer, cook until it reaches 300 degrees, or the hard crack stage. After it cools and hardens, break into bite sized pieces.

On the ninth day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

A Movie Night

“A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down…in the most delightful way!” Seeing a movie together is much anticipated at this time of year. And Mary Poppins is as sweet as they come!  Let’s go!

On the tenth day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

Pancake Party at Grandpa’s House

Saweeeeeeet!  Who doesn’t love pancakes at Christmastime, and who doesn’t love them made by Grandpa?  This afternoon, we will head up to Syracuse and have a pancake party with cousins and grandparents.  Being with family helps us to draw closer to each other and to our Savior.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

Holiday Wassail and Gingerbread

The sweet aromas of Christmas!  Smells help us make lasting memories, and hopefully, these yummy foods will do just that.  On this Sabbath day before Christmas, we will enjoy being together as we worship our Lord, Jesus Christ.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, we bring to you with love…

A Painting of Jesus

“Oh sweet the joy this sentence gives:  I know that my Redeemer lives!”
May we look at this painting in our home each day and imagine ourselves being called by our Living God, personally, to be His disciple and to follow Him.  We are proud of each of you for the devotion you show to Jesus Christ.  We love you very much!  Merry Christmas!
