Many quilts were sewn and tied. Felt puppets were put together. Receiving blankets for still-born babies were lovingly made. Soft little hearts were stitched together for children to hold while going into surgery. Flannel blankets were made for kids in the local refugee program.

I'm happy that many of my young women and their moms were able to come and spend time together in service. It is a beautiful thing to be the Savior's heart and hands. He trusts us to do His work.

Great idea! Did you get the items donated or did you front the cost? I'd love to pass this one on.
ReplyDeleteMost everything was donated by stake members. I know items like pins were purchased. The stake YW presidency has been working on this for quite some time. Having 3 girls from each ward being on the committee was really helpful. There was a bunch of prep work that people had to do before the event. The girls were real leaders getting it delegated. Our stake recognition (for the girls and leaders/moms who have received their medallions and honor bees this past year) was done the first hour in the chapel. In the past this was done on a Wednesday night. This is why we had to wear dresses for the humanitarian event. Each ward provided 3 crock pots of soup and some cookies for lunch. The stake brought the rolls. It really turned out nice. A lot of work, though, to put something like this on. The girls who were on the committee could use this as a value project.
